Due to the growth of the health care industry, the demand for medical assistants is on the rise.* As a medical assistant, your duties may include administering injections, drawing blood, checking vital signs, and assisting in minor surgical procedures. You may also perform basic accounting procedures and update patients' charts. Get the education and technical training you need to enter this growing field at Kaplan College.

 Program Objectives  

The Medical Assistant Diploma program can provide the training necessary for you to seek an entry-level position in the health care field as a medical assistant. You will also receive training in computer technology and word processing which can give you additional skills for employment. Prior to graduation, you will need to complete an externship at a physician's office, local clinic, hospital, health maintenance organization (HMO), or other allied health facility where you can gain valuable work experience.


Graduates of the program may be eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination sponsored by the American Association of Medical Assistants.† It is not necessary for you to take this exam to become employed, but medical assistant certification can give you a competitive edge in the job market.
